Job Summary:
Respond to field calls and provide initial on-site first aid to injured employees and patrons at local businesses. Collect urine and blood specimens for drug testing. Shifts may include days, nights, and weekends, some of which would be on call. Perform venipuncture in clinic and in legal settings. Teach CPR classes and related courses. On-call shifts are 12 or 24 hours in duration and are paid for with a stipend. If minimum number of shifts are met per month, it is guaranteed $1,760/ month. Hourly wage will be paid per time spent on calls in addition to guaranteed stipend. Medics working during the day will have various assignments and duties and will be based out of our occupational health clinic. Medics working on-call will take home a work vehicle with supplies and respond from their own home. If not actively on a call, medic may use their time for personal matters. If a call comes in, they are to engage and respond in a timely manner.
Education & License Requirements:
Current Oregon Emergency Medical Technician certification, good standing is required. Must have a current driver’s license & BLS CPR certification.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of six months of field experience, including delivery of direct patient care with a recognized EMS agency, either as a paid or volunteer member is required. Minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience. Must have an insurable driving record. Must be willing to obtain additional training and/or certification as requested. Ability to maintain professional demeanor and confidentiality in dealing with others. Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Minimum 16- twelve-hour shifts per month.
Essential Job Functions:
Assess patients and apply first aid and/or other required procedures.
Triage injury calls/ general phone calls.
Collect urine and blood specimens for testing and perform breath alcohol testing.
Perform venipuncture in clinical and legal settings.
Administer various vaccines.
Administer PPD skin tests.
Teach CPR/AED, First Aid, and BBP classes.
Complete accurate documentation and specimen handling.
Perform wheelchair transfer duties utilizing a wheelchair accessible van.
Operate, unassisted, Mobile Health vehicles, drive in all kinds of adverse weather conditions, both day and night.
Provide exceptional customer service.
Assist with registration of patients in clinic for their appointments.
Walk through various company facilities, including climbing and descending stairs and ladders, climbing and walking on catwalks, uneven surfaces, under and around conveyor belts and other mechanical obstacles carrying a 20-pound medical kit, first aid supplies, and miscellaneous equipment, or any combination of equipment listed.
Utilize excellent oral and written communication skills.
Take vital signs, wound prep and care.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Use computer for required applications.
Transport and deliver various supplies.
Wash, vacuum, and restock Mobile Health vans.
Register patients in computer system (data entry).
Assemble and file charts.
Attend mandatory staff meetings every other month.
Respond to subpoenas as requested (if applicable).
Other Duties as Assigned.
Marginal Job Functions:
Perform minor maintenance on vans in all weather conditions (change tires, install chains, headlamps). May assist with organizational courier services and facility maintenance duties. Perform other duties as assigned.
