Volunteer with Cascade Health’s Programs

Greeting families at community memorial events. Stocking shelves at Pete Moore Hospice House. Arranging flowers for bereaved families. Tasks like these may seem minor on the surface, but the volunteers who complete them are a blessing to our programs! Cascade Health program volunteers brighten our days and help stretch our capabilities so we can efficiently serve the greatest number of people possible.

If you’re interested in clerical, event or other behind-the-scenes volunteer positions, complete an application or contact us to learn more.

Volunteer with At-Home Programs

Cascade Health’s At-Home programs include hospice, palliative care and home health care: Hospice seeks to bring comfort and compassion to those at the end of life. Palliative care is intended to relieve or reduce the symptoms of serious illness. Home health helps people recover from acute injuries. What they share is a commitment to compassion and excellent medical care to help people experience the best quality of life possible. The Role of Program Volunteers

Behind every patient interaction at Cascade Health is the unseen work that made it possible. Program volunteers provide much-appreciated administrative, customer service, creative and organizational help to our staff and benefit patients and families. Some examples of tasks program volunteers do include:

  • Clerical duties for home health and palliative care, such as filing, assembling information packets, compiling mailings and more.

  • Creative contributions like quilting, flower arranging, baking for Pete Moore Hospice House patients and families or making gift baskets.

  • Organizational help including stocking supplies or performing inventory at Pete Moore Hospice House.

  • Supporting the Butterfly Release and Light Up a Life memorial events with our bereavement program, such as preparing handout materials, setting up tables and chairs, welcoming families, serving snacks and clean up.

How to Become a Program Volunteer

Because you will not have contact with patients as a program volunteer, the process of becoming a program volunteer is simple. First, you must meet the following basic criteria:

  • Be 21 years or older.

  • Pass a criminal background check and TB test.

  • Submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or exemption).

  • Complete required documentation, including signing a confidentiality agreement and submitting a driver’s license and proof of insurance if you will be driving.

  • Complete 1.5 hours of training (Pete Moore Hospice House program volunteers only).

Then, complete an online application or download a copy and submit it to Preeti Yonjon Feist, our volunteer coordinator
