Hospice Volunteers

Our volunteers make all the difference

Cascade Health Solution's Hospice Volunteers are an integral part of our hospice family. When you volunteer, you become part of an important team that cares for patients with life-limiting illnesses. No experience is required - just an interest in helping others.

What do hospice volunteers do?

Hospice volunteers provide a variety of services to patients with a life-limiting illness including:

Home respite visits

By developing a trusting relationship with patient and family, you can provide caregivers much-needed relief from the responsibilities of caring for a loved one. This four-hour weekly visit may be the only break a family member receives.

Facility companionship visits

Visit a patient in a care facility once or twice a week for an hour per visit. The goal is to build rapport with someone who looks forward to your visits, so that you both enjoy one-on-one time together.

Complementary therapy volunteer

As a complementary therapy volunteer, you can practice your skills as you make patients and family members more comfortable. Acupuncture, massage, music, reiki and therapeutic touch are examples of welcomed therapies.

Vigil volunteer

Vigil volunteers ensure that no one dies alone. These volunteers sit with patients during their final hours to perform a "vigil" over patients who are actively dying without family members or friends present.

Administrative program support

Put your administrative skills to noble use. We have many clerical opportunities, including calling families, computer data entry, filing and mailings.

PAAWS (People and Animals Who Serve)

Certified dogs and their owners offer pet companionship to many of our patients, both in facilities and homes.
