Most organizations are embracing a workforce filled with a more diverse group of employees then ever before. A rich mix of age, gender, ethnicity, cultural background, sexual orientation, disability, and other differences can create unlimited opportunities for success in organizations. This diversity may also pose some challenges to managers and supervisors in understanding the various needs and expectations of the individual employees, as well as working with group dynamics that may emerge in diverse work teams. In this workshop, we will discuss ways that leaders can help to maximize the value created by diversity in the workplace. Topics will include supervisory styles, building cohesion and productivity in diverse teams, and steps to create a workplace that encourages respect, dignity and success for employees of all backgrounds.
