Therapist Biographies

Teri Strong, Ph.D., Director, is a licensed Psychologist with more than 20 years of professional experience in clinical, educational and managerial positions. Dr. Strong's clinical work focuses on the treatment of stress and anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders, chronic pain and illness, relationship problems, and grief and loss/adjustment issues. She also has extensive experience providing training and organizational development in a variety of professional settings. Prior to joining the DIRECTION team, Dr. Strong maintained a private psychological practice, was on the faculties of both University of Oregon and Oregon State University, and provided psychological evaluation and treatment in a chronic pain treatment program.

Diane Andrews, L.C.S.W., is a licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than twenty-five years of postgraduate professional experience in our community. Diane's special areas of interest and expertise include, but are not limited to, working with adult and adolescent clients regarding life transition issues, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, grief and loss issues, adult children of alcoholics & codependency issues, and chronic and terminal illness-related issues.

Linda Beal Blandy, L.C.S.W., is a licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of postgraduate experience. She has worked with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of medical and agency settings providing assessment, treatment and post adoption supervision. She has vast knowledge of community resources in the Eugene/Springfield area, particularly related to eldercare services and placement options. Special areas of interest include stress, grief, life transition, women's issues, parenting skills, relationship patterns and chronic and terminal illness. More recently, Linda has expanded her knowledge and expertise to include career assessment and counseling.

David Campbell, Ph.D., is a licensed Psychologist with over twenty-five years experience providing psychological assessment, treatment and consultation. Dr. Campbell's clinical work has focused on individuals with a variety of health and emotional problems including depression, anxiety, stress disorders, work adjustment, pain and adjusting to major traumatic injury (spinal cord and head injury) and chronic medical illness. Previously, Dr. Campbell worked both administratively and clinically at Sacred Heart General Hospital, as a research scientist at Oregon Research Institute and on the faculty in the University of Oregon?s Psychology department.

Joanna Hoskins, Ph.D., has been practicing in the Eugene/Springfield community for many years. Dr. Hoskins areas of specialization include recovery from compulsive behavior (emotion-based eating, co-dependency, sub-assertiveness, etc..), behavioral medicine (eating disorders, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc..), skill enhancement (couple/family - especially step parenting - communication, conflict resolution, etc..). Dr. Hoskins has given hundreds of workshops, lectures, and conferences on a variety of topics.

Susan Isaacs, LCSW, is a licensed Clinical Social Worker with over twenty-five years of post-graduate experience as a clinical social worker, mediator, trainer and supervisor. After twelve years as a social worker for children, adults, couples and families in school, agency and private practice settings Susan managed a city-wide counseling program for Portland Public Schools. Since moving to Eugene, Susan has made a successful transition to a mediator, facilitator and professional trainer. Susan serves DIRECTION client companies by providing conflict resolution, team-building and other organizational development services.

Penny McAvoy, L.C.S.W., is a licensed Clinical Social Worker with over seventeen years experience providing counseling services in a variety of agency settings and in private practice. She has a broad range of skills working with individuals, couples and families. Areas of interest include grief and loss, depression, anxiety, stress management, relationship issues, conflict resolution with work groups, mental health issues related to aging, and developmental and life transition issues, and trauma resolution including critical incident stress debriefing.

Victoria McMillan, L.C.S.W., is a licensed Clinical Social Worker with over fifteen years experience in treating people with chronic pain and chronic illness. She has expertise in working with couples and families both within her private practice and while employed at the Oregon Pain Center and Eugene Family Therapy Institute/center for Family Development. She has treated adults with a wide range of life stressors and addictive disorders. In addition, she uses Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing for healing the effects of trauma and abuse.

Jill Wolf, M.S., is a licensed Psychologist Associate. Jill is also a marriage and family therapist who has served a wide range of clientele in private practice over the past thirteen years. She has also provided short term, employee assistance counseling over the past eight years for a variety of organizations. Ms. Wolf has a broad range of expertise in individual, family and group counseling, leading workshops and giving presentations. Her areas of special interest include adolescence and family issues, eating disorders, stress management, depressive disorders and life transition issues. Jill is highly skilled and experienced in assessment, diagnosis and brief therapy.

Bruce Czuchna, Psy.D., is a licensed Psychologist with professional experience in clinical and managerial positions. He has extensive experience working in a multidisciplinary health care setting, and he enjoys participating in wide range of activities from assessment and counseling to consultation and training. Dr. Czuchna's clinical work has focused on individuals and groups with various health and emotional challenges that have included, but are not limited to, depression and anxiety, co-occurring substance use challenges, health issues, stress and anger management, and negotiating various life transitions. He has particular interest in identity development, enhancing self-awareness and communication, managing change and personal empowerment, and working with gay and bisexual men. Prior to joining the DIRECTION team, Dr. Czuchna worked in both health care (Cook County Hospital?s HIV Services in Chicago) and university counseling centers (Oregon State University and the University of Oregon). He is active with the Lane County Psychologists' Association and is a board member of the HIV Alliance.
