Supervisors have many opportunities to coach their workers to be more skillful. Opportunities arise when an employee needs to learn and practice better job skills or better interpersonal skills – and when a worker needs to stop certain actions as well (managing anger, for example). Often supervisors haven’t received specific training in defining what needs to be changed, such as, teaching others how to increase or stop behaviors, setting time tables, and evaluating progress, and being encouraging. Helping employees to be more skillful is a great gift to workers – and to the workplace! In this class, we’ll identify and discuss these behavior-change skills, and do some practical problem solving.
