When You're Angry at Your Kids |
Q: I get really angry with my kids, and I'm afraid I might do or say something to hurt them. Where can I get some help?
A: Parenting is a tough job, and there are few absolutes. Frustration can lead to anger, which can lead to verbal or physical abuse.
- In most communities, parenting classes or seminars are offered at schools, churches, community organizations, or community colleges.
- Licensed marriage and family counselors specialize in family-related concerns.
- Your doctor, pastor, spouse, and friends can provide you with support and suggestions.
- Set reasonable rules. Be consistent, fair, and loving, and listen to what your children have to say too.
- Resolve problems when they first arise – before anyone becomes angry.
