Use Salt Moderately Learn how limiting salt (sodium) can help prevent/lower high blood pressure and risk of heart disease and stroke. Choose foods with lower sodium content. Aim for no more than 1,500 mg sodium (salt) daily. Fill your salt shaker with potassium-enriched salt, Lite Salt™, or garlic and herbs.
