"Regular exposure to 'super-sized' portions encourages overeating among children," says Baylor College of Medicine researcher Dr. Jennifer Fisher.
Her research with the USDA/ARS Children's Nutrition Research Center found that keeping kids' mealtime portions under control could help the pint-size diners avoid super-sized appetites and whopper waistlines.
"We know that families today eat out much more often than in the past and that away-from-home portions keep getting larger," she said.
Best advice:
Serve children kid-sized portions whether you're dining in the fast lane or making mac-and-cheese at home. |
